This collage piece is inspired by the bokeh effect in photography. In an effort to mimic the style with collage, creating abstract bubbles of color, I hand cut and collage circles and ovals from magazine images, paint chips and hand painted acrylic papers. The composition reflects my interest in patterns and color, combined with my love of repetition of form. All work will come signed and dated.

Ali Herrmann is a mixed media painter, colorist and science lover, whose work explores cellular structures as an origin into her abstract artworks. Creating what she terms ‘micro-biome landscapes,’ Herrmann uses SEM images and organic shapes as inspiration to explore concepts of blood, bacteria, fungi, and unicellular structures within her boldly colorful, abstract artworks. Exploring themes of repetition, rhythmic orders, geometric shapes, and chaos-order theory, Ali brings attention to nature's details that are often overlooked.
