Artist’s name: Martine Mooijenkind. Title of artwork: Eat you raw. Materials : Collage on paper. Date created: 2018 Size : 16.5x25 Signed front and back with signature. Artist motivation: The family had been planning this picnic for weeks. They had packed their favorite foods, drinks, and games, and were excited to spend a day together in the great outdoors. As they set up their picnic table, they noticed something strange. The ground was littered with bones and skulls. They tried to ignore it and enjoy their meal, but the eerie feeling lingered. Suddenly, the sky turned dark, and the full moon shone bright. The family felt a chill run down their spines as they realized they were surrounded by death. They tried to pack up and leave, but it was too late. The bones and skulls began to move, and the family was trapped. They screamed and cried for help, but no one came. The family was never seen again. This story is inspired by the surreal and unsettling nature of the artwork. It explores the idea of how humans are impacting the world around them and how the consequences of their actions can be devastating. The story also highlights the importance of being aware of our surroundings and the impact we have on the environment. Martine Mooijenkind, also known as Knutseltroep, is a self-taught collage artist and graphic designer from Gouda, The Netherlands. She creates surreal collages using vintage materials and digital techniques. She also works as a care attendant for the disabled . Her artworks have been published in various magazines and online platforms. Mooijenkind started making collages in 2010, when she discovered a box of old magazines in her attic. She soon developed her own style, combining elements from different sources and eras to create surreal scenes and characters. Mooijenkind uses both analog and digital methods to create her collages. She often scans her cut-outs and edits them on Photoshop, adding filters, textures and effects to enhance the mood and atmosphere of her works. She sometimes incorporates her own drawings and photographs into her collages, creating a personal touch. Mooijenkind draws inspiration from various sources, such as music, literature, cinema, nature and dreams. She is influenced by artists such as Hannah Höch, Max Ernst, and Salvador Dali.
