My 'Found Shapes of the Unknowable' series represents a second generation of the shapes which were established in my previous 'Monument' series. The shapes were duplicated and then cropped into a grid of squares, sized specifically to force a further transformation so that no piece may survive intact. The heritage of the pictures is hinted at in fragmented sections of illustrated micro-pattern, embedded within the composition like DNA. I've noticed a temporal aspect to the tiled constructions; seeing them as sequential, much like a calendar or a diary. The series continues my exploration of these unplanned shapes; where they come from and what they might reveal, balanced in limbo between the designs of man and nature. As with many questions about our existence, my mind can only reach so far before I'm confronted by a brick wall of the 'Unknowable'. The canvas currently has a string attached at the back for hanging. Unfortunately, to my great embarrassment, the canvas' wooden frame warped very slightly while I was working on it. I'm not sure why, but it was very frustrating. It's not really noticeable in the pictures I've posted, it's quite subtle, but when you can walk around the picture you notice that the frame is not totally flat against the wall. I have two solutions for you! Firstly, you could frame the canvas in a tray frame, for example, and this would hold it back in shape correctly. Secondly, in case you like the look of the canvas unframed, I'll include 4 x keyhole hanger fasteners, with screws, to attach to each corner. You'll have to arrange your own four screws / wall plugs that go into your wall. But it's another option for keeping the canvas flat. I'm very proud of these large canvases and, with a little bit of care, I'm confident they'll look great in your home. I wanted to be totally open about this upfront rather than you having to work it out for yourself on arrival and it spoiling your whole experience.

I am a mixed-media artist based in London. My collages explore the boundaries between the man-made and nature, reanimating found materials, shapes and colours, often the by-products of design. New arrangements are constructed by assimilating inherited material and processing with a mechanical mindset. I believe these serendipitous compositions could hold some inherent value which might offer us a fleeting glimpse of our connection with the world.
