I am quite interested by how volumes are worked in modern architecture and the texture of concrete used in such constructions. One of those buildings is the Museum Franz Gertsch, in Switzerland, witch which I fell in love. Soon after the visit, I started working in some sketches and finally chose the present theme, and decided to work on a series, where I played with shades, tried to imitate and reproduce the texture of the raw material -concrete-, the geometry of the volumes, which, in my opinion, leads to an abstract space where white reinforces and dramatises the architecture. I did some paintings on white. I played with different and very subtle shades of white to recreate the space I had seen and then I decided to let my imagination fly while respecting the initial sketch. I did come out with an abstract work, that can be seen from all sides. It does not have a definite way of being displayed; which is my goal.

As an artist. I paint and I photograph the world that I see, the world that surrounds me. Most of the time, I use ideas that have been germinating in my mind to fill canvas or paper without the need for a preamble sketch. I seldom make a plan; I work because I need to express myself in a burst of sincerity and passion. There is contradiction though, because my work is very polished and it is difficult to see any marks of hard strokes of brush or color due to the burst. Everything blends to make the visual story flow without interference. Almost all my work is figurative although my most recent work tends toward “abstract reality.” I try to emphasise the need of modern man to transcend the material world and reach out to a more spiritual reality. Hence my belief that a simple artistic expression can transcend cultural and linguistic differences and reach universal truths. My goal as an artist and creator is to make art that, I hope, will make men think and reflect. Art is my passion and gives my life a sense of purpose.
