I’m inspired by the famous Dutch Masters, like Rembrandt and especially Vermeer. The coulours and the fine detail. And I love to paint realism and still lifes with a surrealistic twist.

Netherlands
Marsman has been a professional artist since 1998. Before that he worked in his creative design agency in Eindhoven (the Netherlands). In 1998 he decided to quit his design work and put all his energy and time into his art. Until 2018, Marsman mainly worked in an expressive PopArt style, with which he also had great success internationally. But during his career he became increasingly interested in realism, in the real craft in the atmosphere of the old Masters in the Golden Age in the Netherlands. The tranquility, delicacy, detailing and use of color by Johannes Vermeer (1632 - 1675) in particular was a great example and still is a great source of inspiration. Because his PopArt work was successful and the demand from galleries and companies was high, there was not the time to adapt his painting style step by step to realism. That is why he decided in 2018 to only paint in a realistic style with immediate effect. A leading gallery in Modern Realism (Gallery Bonnard) immediately took an interest in representing his work. And so his realism took off. Marsman's realism is of high quality and is distinguished by the fine detailing, the clear use of color and the surprising choice of subjects. The production from sketch to finished painting sometimes takes months of work. Partly for that reason, his work is very exclusive. Marsman's work is internationally represented by Gallery Bonnard (Netherlands) and Simple gallery in Gstaad (Switzerland). In addition, his work is purchased by private art dealers on behalf of art collectors all over the world. WORK AND LIFE Jean-Paul Marsman, born in Nijmegen, is a remarkable Dutch artist who lives and works in Veldhoven. His work is bought by collectors, galleries, museums and companies. Previously there was his colorful figurative work with graffiti influences that rubs against Pop Art. Expressionist work in which the combination of image and text is important and reinforce each other. This work reflects the artist's rich imagination and stems from inspiration from everyday events, with his graphic advertising background evident in his work. As of 2018 there is his hushed hyper-realistic work. In which the classical craft of 17th century painting techniques forms the monumental and timeless character of his compositions. These works are characterized by the refined detail and the layering of colors, which turn the works into true masterpieces.
