The woman in the blue coat is Lina, my beloved wife, who graciously participated in this series during my initial experiments in calibrating my camera and lens to achieve a painterly effect I was ardently pursuing. When it comes to Lina, I find myself with an abundance of words, but love is the foremost, the very emotion that struck me like a lightning bolt the moment I first laid eyes on her – a true story. All the other words, sentiments, and memories are intricately woven into this photograph, awaiting your interpretation, dear viewer. Even now, as I gaze upon this image, I discern echoes of our present life together. It reminds me of a close-up photograph I once took, capturing the hues of a sunset in a flower, much like the ones you see here. I captioned it with a line borrowed from The Bard: "It is the east. And Lina is the sun." (Yes, I indulged in a bit of Shakespearean plagiarism.) The unconscious mind is ever-present in this artwork, but it particularly manifests itself in the warm, embracing colors of the sunset. And, perhaps, if I may indulge in a touch of heresy, I dare say that I've been enamored with the radiant light that emanates from El Greco's subjects, and I recognize I may be way too biased or self-delusional in thinking that I've managed to capture a gleam of it here. I invite discerning collectors who appreciate the fusion of art and culture. By acquiring this exclusive piece, you invest in an exquisite work of art and contribute to preserving our contemporary era's essence. Each print in this limited-edition series of 3, with 1 artist's proof (AP, not for sale), is meticulously crafted on archival paper using the finest pigment inks, ensuring longevity and vividness. The price rises incrementally with each edition sold, enhancing its value. Each print is titled, dated, numbered, and personally signed on the verso, with a certificate of authenticity, guaranteeing its origin and intrinsic value. From my series, titled "Passenger."

www.MA9.co Fine art photography by Marco Aurelio. ARTIST STATEMENT I photograph the individual on the street to create site-specific visual ethnographies. I also photograph still-life as a way of exploring the beauty of design and form in the natural world. BIO Born and raised at the foot of the South American Andes within a family of generational farmers, I was exposed to native oral traditions, pre-Columbian indigenous art and cosmologies, magical-realism experiences, and the sociopolitical dynamics of the region. I earned a Liberal Arts degree from New York University, which encompassed studies in European history, anthropology, and Western philosophy. Starting as a self-taught photographer, I enhanced my craft by attending courses at The International Center of Photography and The School of Visual Arts in New York City. Following a strong academic curiosity, I ventured into archaeology and anthropology at The City College at CUNY and deepened my understanding of writing, music history, and anthropology at Columbia University. Journeys through photojournalism and portrait photography, combined with interests as varied as ontology, Eastern philosophy, physics, and the metaphysical elements in the fiction of Jorge Luis Borges, continue to shape and inform my fine art photography practice. Today, New York City is both my home and a creative sanctuary.
