The sculpture is made of terracotta with natural earths which, during cooking, turn white. In this terracotta I conceived Jesus as in a white tomb. But I gave the work a "particular" title: Buried alive, as a provocation towards modern man belonging to Catholic culture: an invitation not to bury Christ in our hearts but to make him live in them. There are no other copies of this sculpture which was modeled and baked directly without making casts.

Agostino Viola was born on 7.11.1960 in Santa Maria Capua Vetere (CE) - ITALY. At the age of 3, his family relocated to Milan in Northern Italy. At the age of 15, he had his first art exhibition at the Gallery "The Cathedral" in the center of the city of Milan. At 20 he moved to central Italy: to the Marche region. Here he knew the poets of Urbino town, the maestro Domenico Cantatore, with whom he started a fruitful friendship. In Marches, he came into contact with medieval architecture, enriched by precious paintings by medieval and Renaissance artists such as Carlo Crivelli. This area is also the native land of important contemporary masters such as Licini in painting and Fazzini in sculpture. This Region has a long goldsmith tradition, from which the artist is emotionally involved: he begins to create art objects in precious metals, studying ancient techniques such as embossed chisel. In this region he had some personal exhibition at the historical cities, such as the city of Fermo. In 1999: he returned to Milan where he currently works. In 2002: he had the joy of seeing Cardinal C. M. Martini and donated a bronze sculpture entitled "The City". In 2007: personal art show of “Old Mill Dugnani” in Sant'Agata - Cassina de 'Pecchi and a personal art show of Digital Art at the Club Conti di Milano, curated by the art critic Carlo Franza. In 2009: he resumed contact with Prof. Armando Ginesi with whom he did some works for museums and for publishing editorials in the territory of Marches. 2013 realization of stained glass in the Church of Santa Maria Ausiliatrice in Cassina de 'Pecchi (MI); 2014 he is mainly dedicated to sacred art and jewelery, with the opening of a personal online store SiLoJe on Etsy.com; 2021 He creates the rose window for the church dedicated to Santa Maria Ausiliatrice in Cassina de' Pecchi (Milan)
