A few years back I dabbled with light painting for a project with Polaroid. I loved the mood this created within the square frame, especially with the use of red light. This shot I wanted to add a little more color variation to simulate a kind of ring of fire so I used gradated embroidery thread to embellish the fiery lighting ring. Creating a kind of witchy, magical moment that we don't know if its good or evil.

Bret Watkins is a Los Angeles based Polaroid photographer. Bret is drawn to spaces, faces and neon places. Polaroid has become Bret’s medium of choice because they find there is something about being able to capture a moment in time and see it develop in your hand minutes later that is truly special. Polaroid has such a dreamy quality to it, so my goal is to always create a world that feels real yet surreal. I want them to be a place you've never been but always wanted to see.
